Review 9/15/2009
On 8/19/2009 I went in for an oil change on my 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SS. I handed a coupon to Ron (owner) and he began typing up the order while asking me questions related to my vehicle to assist him with the order. When he handed me the estimate to sign, I noticed it was the same price as the coupon, which is odd considering my vehicle requires synthetic oil and usually costs extra. (LS2 Corvette Engine) I then questioned him about not being charged extra for my engine type and he responded with, "no, we don't believe in nickel and diming customers." I responded by telling him that is a great deal and thanked him. The service was completed and I paid.

The next day I began wondering why the cost was so cheap and confirmed my oil type with Chevrolet who also told me that if I used an improper oil type, it would cause engine damage and also void my factory warranty. I looked over my paperwork and noticed that it didn't list it as synthetic oil so I called All Seasons Tire to confirm. I was told by an employee that I received regular oil. I requested to speak with Ron and when I told him they gave me the wrong oil, he said it was my fault because I didn't request synthetic oil. I reminded him that I gave him all of my vehicle information and even asked about needing to pay extra for my type of engine. He repeated that it was my fault for not specifically requesting synthetic oil. I then pointed out that my oil cap even states that I must have synthetic oil. He said it's not up to the mechanics to know or tell us what type of oil we need that it's our responsibility to tell them.

After being treated with disrespect and being blamed for the mistake I then had to pay them additional funds for the flushing and proper oil change to avoid damage to my engine. To top it off, the day of the original oil change, they had a sign hanging in their lobby stating a synthetic oil change was $59.99. Interestingly enough, when I returned for the flushing and proper oil change, that sign was no longer hanging in the lobby and I was charged $81.34 for a synthetic oil change.

I've never gone in to any mechanics shop and not have them know, based on my vehicle type and the *warning* on the oil cap, what type of oil to put into my vehicle. And the owner, no less, has the nerve to tell me it's not their job to know or tell me what type of oil I need?! I thought mechanics are supposed to be educated on the tasks they're performing. Not only did they perform engine damaging service to my vehicle that luckily I caught, but I also was charged more than they normally charge for a synthetic oil change due to the owner being upset at me for calling them to the table on their mistake. Their ineptness and complete disrespect towards me is unbelievable and unacceptable.
