I have bought and leased two BMWs from subject. With the exception of the owner, it is an excellent operation. After my first routine service of the first car the owner called me speaking very angrily as to why I had not given the service department a top rating in a survey. It is my policy to not give a top rating on any survey unless the service was absolutely unique in all respects. My feeling was that the service was good. The owner told me not to come back for service and to use the BMW service department in Santa Maria (Santa Barbara County). This cast a pall over my entire experience with this dealer, although I was pleased with all other aspects of the business. I contacted BMW-USA in New Jersey and was told by an executive that Coast BMW is a problem in their system, but since they are a top selling dealer (for the size of the community) and since the dealership is a franchise, they could do little about it. However, they did give me a significant credit for any purchase from the BMW store. I feel that this is an acceptable gesture and feel BMW really cares about their customers. Luckily for other customers, the owner stays pretty much in the background with his hissy-fits few and far between!
