SWOOPO - The worst of the penny auction sites I've used. I recently saw an auction where they stopped and started the auction multiple times. Their policy states that if they have a technical issue they can pause the auction and resume it again by adding 10 minutes to the time still on the clock. The auction I saw stopped with under 20 seconds on the clock and stayed paused for a long time. When it came back on it had not 10 minutes, but more than an hour and a half restarted on the clock. That happened more than once during the auction. When customer service was asked about it, their answers ranged from clueless to evasive. When they were nailed down about their written policy that states they only retsrt the clock w/ 10 minutes even though they clearly violated that written policy thay refused to address the inconsistency. It's like if you were at a live auction and right in the middle the auctioneer just stopped everything and said let's take a break and start the auction later to see if anybody else shows up who wants to bid too. Doesn't appear too honest when you change the way the game is played.
Penny auctions have risks and you should understand that going in, but they shouldn't be allowed to alter the rules mid stream to their advantage and outside of the sites written policies. I asked the Fed Trade Comm about it and they weren't impressed. They refered me to IC3.gov , the agency that oversees fraud, scams, etc on the internet.
I wouldn't ever use swoopo after what I experienced. There are a couple other penny auction sites that are a lot better.
